About

Hi – I’m Jeremy, or Jez….

I'm pretty busy being a husband, father, employee and part-time participant in the sport of Triathlon. Here's a little more about me and what I love doing.

In my teenage years I raced for my local cycling club, swam competitively and ran for my school in cross country and long distance events. Around that time the sport of Triathlon was growing in popularity and I inevitably started competing in local and national events.

The usual pattern of work, marriage and children resulted in my slow and steady demise into a not very active and overweight man. As my fitness was on the decline, my little sister, Mim, was busy following her Triathlon dreams. During this time she represented GB in her age group several times, completed 8 Ironman events and qualified for the 2008 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

In 2012 I became motivated to improve my health, lose some weight and be more active. It began with a rekindling of my love for cycling, and soon after I started running again. Early the next year Mim challenged me to a triathlon and that summer I took part in my first race in over 20 years. I loved it.

Over the next few years I took part in numerous triathlons, slowly getting better. I also participated in various endurance sports events, such as L'Etape du Tour (A stage of the Tour de France) and a couple of Ultra Marathons.

It was in 2019, with a big birthday looming the next year, that I set myself the target of trying to qualify for the GB Age Group team in 2020. I managed to do that, qualifying for the European Championships in Estonia in July 2020, but that race was to be cancelled due to COVID.

My qualification was carried over into the 2021 team for the European Championships in Valencia, Spain, in September 2021, and the World Championships in Edmonton, Canada, in August 2021.
